Whyalla Aged Care goes live with Spectrax AgedCare Mobility
Friday, October 31, 2008
Whyalla, October 2008:
Whyalla Aged Care (WAC), a provider of assisted living, residential aged care and community care services in the South Australian city of Whyalla, has gone into full production use of its Spectrax mobility system. This system provides care givers in the aged care facility with mobile, remote access to the residential care management system so that they can focus on providing the highest quality of care to their residents instead of returning to a workstation to perform administrative tasks.
WAC selected the Eclipse PeoplePoint aged care platform, which has been mobilised by the Spectrax AgedCare Mobility system under the PeoplePoint Mobility banner, for managing its residential care operations. PeoplePoint provides a broad range of functions for assessment, care planning and care delivery management. For those delivering care services, the Spectrax mobility system is a simple-to-use method of interacting with PeoplePoint at the point of care: it provides the care givers with the information they need and the means of recording information they generate and eliminates much of the administrative burden they would otherwise carry. This improves both the productivity and the morale of caregivers, and improves the quality of information collected by the PeoplePoint system. Most importantly, it also improves the quality of care provided to residents.
WAC selected Motorola MC35 mobile devices and the touchscreen variant of the aged care mobility system. These devices link to the Spectrax Mobile Server through WAC’s wireless LAN, which spans their three sites at Copperhouse Court, Annie Lockwood Court and Yeltana Nursing Home. The Mobile Server and PeoplePoint system are all locally hosted on premise by WAC. The mobility system is capable of being expanded both on site, to new sites and to support WAC’s community services (using a mobile carrier data plan) in the future, to help WAC meet the rapidly growing demand for aged care services in Whyalla’s aging population.

IBM Innovation Centre confirms Spectrax DB2 compatibility
Tuesday, July 01, 2008
Potential multiplatform sales opportunities presented a compelling reason for Spectrax to migrate its Mobile
Server technology and associated connector components to DB2® running on System i running Linux. With
such a range of multiple platform opportunities Spectrax wanted its business partners to be 100% confident
its Mobility products were truly cross platform and used the IBM® Innovation Centre to achieve that objective.
Ritesh Sahu a Senior Developer with Spectrax sought the advice and expertise of the Innovation Centre to
help test this process. “One of the major challenges was to get hold of different DB2® versions on various
operating systems all at once so that everything can be tested easily and quickly. Due to time to market
constraints we had to meet a comprehensive test schedule very quickly.”
“The centre gave us access to a full suite of hardware simulating a ‘real world’ environment and assisted us
with very experienced technical support. In addition, remote access through their VPN meant we could
continue migration testing from our own development environment.”
The Spectrax Mobility Solution covers horizontal solutions with sales order processing, field service, inventory
management and CRM functions and vertical market solutions in areas such as medical supply distribution and
support, clinical and community care for the aged and waste management.
“The expert assistance provided by the Centre gave us a solid understanding of best practice methodology for
integrating with DB2® which was invaluable when you look at the range of opportunities we can fulfil” says
Ritesh Sahu.
By providing a simulated real world environment and expert support, the IBM Innovation Centre enabled
Spectrax to complete migration testing with Linux and DB2® on System i very quickly.
“We were able to achieve full DB2® Compatibility with our solution and meet our deadlines thanks to onsite
and offsite access and excellent technical support.”

Albi Imports
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Albi Imports is an Importer and distributor of contemporary and stylish home, gift and kitchenware. Part of the service that Albi sales staff offer their customers is to update stock inventory at the customer site. Because of the variety of stock and pre-packaged quantities, achieving a correct balance of product for each customer is a time consuming process.
Spectrax was able to make this process quick and simple. Using Motorola devices at the user end and integrating into Microsoft Dynamics at Albi headquarters, Spectrax were able to implement a mobility solution that automated this process.
The user interface on the Sales persons Motorola PDA is configured to calculate stock requirements for each customer, leaving the sales person a simplified task of only scanning existing product packages. Once this is done the sales person is presented with the correct overall quantity of replenishment product packages. The calculation allows for the amount of stock in individual packaging, meeting the customer’s predetermined stock levels.
In addition Spectrax offers a data rich integration to Dynamics AX allowing customer history, signature capture and other functionality already inbuilt into the Solution.
Albi also use Spectrax in trade shows to capture new customer details and order information and sends it in real time to their main data base from sales people on the floor.
As the Spectrax Solution is fully validated by Motorola and Microsoft, Albi had the assurance it would work as a totally integrated solution from day one.

Fossil Australia Lowers Back Orders 80 Percent with Mobility
Saturday, November 25, 2006
On November 25, 2006, Spectrax™ completed deployment of Spectrax™ System, a proprietary mobility solution, for fashion retailer Fossil Australia. Together with Dialog, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Spectrax integrated the Spectrax solution with the retailer’s existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
As a trend-driven fashion retailer, inventory optimization is key for Fossil Australia; the retailer doesn’t want merchandise to be left languishing in its warehouses. Says Geoff Bowker, COO of Spectrax, “The Fossil product assortment typically has a shelf life of six months. To streamline the ordering process—and clear items out of the warehouse—the retailer wanted a mobility solution that would allow mobile sales reps to place orders and commit stock on-site, using real-time inventory quantities.”
Spectra’s Spectrax System seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, providing Fossil Australia’s mobile and remote workers real-time access to current inventory levels and customer histories, as well as the ability to instantly place and confirm orders with a digital signature.
Being able to remotely enter orders into Microsoft Dynamics NAV instantly, instead of the three to five days it used to take, will improve Fossil’s bottom line by at least 20 percent. Because of this swifter order-to-cash cycle, the retailer expects Spectrax System to attain a full return on investment in just six months. Preliminary numbers also show that the mobility solution will enable Fossil to lower back-order levels from US$500,000 a year to below US$100,000.
European Markets Embrace Spectrax Mobility Solution
Monday, November 20, 2006
In Europe, leading Microsoft Dynamics partners are taking note of Spectrax™. Since opening its UK office in September 2006, Spectrax has intrigued the traditionally difficult European market with its innovative mobile enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.
“During September, our CEO, Anthony Julien, spoke to the FAQT Group, an alliance of Microsoft Dynamics resellers in Prague, increasing our brand awareness in the European market,” says Jason Ollivier, EMEA Sales Director of Spectrax. “Just three weeks later, we were present at the first ever Microsoft EMEA Conference in Munich. The positive response was overwhelming.”
Microsoft partners and resellers were drawn to Spectrax’s strong relationships with both Microsoft and Symbol Technologies, especially Spectra’s involvement in the Microsoft Mobile Early Engagement Program (P10). Through its relationship with Symbol, Spectrax provides resellers with both hardware specialists and support for deployment and maintenance of Spectrax mobile devices, so resellers aren’t taken away from their core business.
Explains Ollivier, “Mobility is becoming an in-demand solution for customers, and resellers need to be able to respond. That’s where Spectrax comes in. We provide Microsoft Dynamics resellers with a competitive advantage—out-of-the-box mobility—that is beginning to make us very popular in Europe.”

Spectra Interface also extend ERP and financial solutions created by Microsoft to mobile and remote users. Spectra Interface enjoys a close relationship with Microsoft developers in Denmark who are preparing for the Windows Mobile 5.0 release.

Bold Move Establishes Spectrax Presence in United States
Monday, July 03, 2006
Today, Spectrax™ simultaneously announced the opening of its U.S. office and the appointment of Joseph Hommrich as Channel Sales Manager–North America. The news confirms reports of the company’s expected expansion into the United States.
Hommrich joins Spectrax from Microsoft Corporation, where he spent eight years in various sales positions selling both the Microsoft platform and solutions. As Microsoft Corporate Account Manager–Enterprise Partner Group for the past three years, Hommrich specialized in sales of Microsoft mobility products. Feeling the market poised for a surging demand for mobility, Hommrich agreed to help Spectrax extend its reach into the United States.
“I was immediately taken with the capabilities Spectrax offers the Microsoft Dynamics community by extending enterprise resource planning use to mobile devices. It was nothing Microsoft or any other ISV could match,” says Hommrich. “My goal is to get an organization’s decision makers out of the office and into the field, meeting with customers and partners to enable business to happen more efficiently.”
To help drive go-to-market campaigns in the United States, Hommrich plans to empower the partner channel as well as to embrace telecommunications companies. The two-pronged approach will allow Spectrax to reach the scale the company’s biggest partners—Microsoft and Symbol—expect from the ISV.
Spectrax also located its new U.S. office in Bellevue, Washington, near the Microsoft main campus. Explains Hommrich, “It’s imperative for Spectrax to have a U.S. presence. The small and medium business space in the United States is growing at a faster pace than any other market segment.”
